Vesper Venue is the former Naval Training Center library at 2875 Dewey Road in the Liberty Station Arts District, Point Loma. The venue has redesigned it for events: one long hall with wood floors, white walls and a vaulted, beamed ceiling, reached from an outdoor patio through an entry foyer. Above the Line provides audio, lighting, video and staging for galas, conferences and receptions here.

7,000+sq ft of event space
400guests for a seated reception
750guests cocktail-style

Galas and receptions in a historic hall

The hall's white walls and open beams make it a clean canvas for lighting, and its length makes sound and sightlines the first thing to plan. Because the venue doesn't publish dimensions or ceiling height, we walk the room before quoting and build the stage, screens and speaker plan around the actual space and your guest count.

The spaces

Capacities come from Vesper Venue's own website and its official listing on libertystation.com, which publish the same figures. Photos are the venue's own from vespervenue.com. Production notes describe a typical Above the Line setup.

The Vesper Venue main hall set with long wooden banquet tables and a round head table under the vaulted ceiling

Main hall · seated dinners

Part of 7,000+ sq ft · vaulted ceiling with exposed beams

The former Naval Training Center library has wood floors, white walls and a vaulted, beamed ceiling, with a mezzanine-style row of windows along both sides.

Seated reception up to 400

A seated dinner for 400 fills the floor, so we plan the stage, screens and FOH position into the table layout from the start rather than taking rounds out later.

Rows of white chairs facing the front of the hall with a hanging floral installation overhead

Main hall · ceremonies & presentations

Long hall with a center aisle

The same hall set in rows down a center aisle, the layout the venue shows for ceremonies.

For talks and programs we put the stage at the far end, add delay speakers down the length of the hall and place screens where the columns don't block sightlines.

Long reception tables and lounge groupings across the hall in warm evening light

Main hall · receptions

Open floor for mixing and stations

With tables cleared to the sides, the hall opens up for cocktail-style events, trade shows and conferences.

Cocktail-style up to 750

Cocktail events get distributed speakers for even background music, uplighting on the white walls and a wireless mic for toasts.

Entrance & entry foyer

2875 Dewey Rd · Liberty Station Arts District

Guests come up the walkway from the outdoor patio, through an entry foyer and into the main hall.

The foyer is our spot for registration, a welcome screen and sponsor signage.

The outdoor patio along the side of the building with string lights overhead and a path between hedges

Outdoor patio

Outdoor · string lights

The venue's scenic patio runs alongside the building and leads to the entry.

We run background music and festoon-friendly lighting out here, on a separate zone from the hall.

Colonnade walkways

Covered walkways around the building

Arched, covered walkways connect the patio and the building, part of the historic Naval Training Center architecture.

A good path for guest flow between the patio and the hall; we keep cable runs out of it.

A bright private suite with tall windows, a white sofa, armchairs and a neon sign on the wall

Private suite

Getting-ready and green room space

The venue shows a private suite with tall windows and lounge furniture.

We use it as a green room for speakers and performers, with a program feed and a confidence monitor if needed.
